HOW TO DO THE CATS CAGE EACH DAY

MORNING WORK (shoe coverings MUST be worn when going into the cat cage, REMOVED when leaving)

PREPARE IN ADVANCE BEFORE GOING INTO CAT CAGE:

* 1.5 cans of wet cat food (check fridge for leftovers from yesterday, if not take 2 cans from food storage), should be soaking in hot water for at least 5 minutes, the more the better (can do small tasks while waiting for them). If there is an opened can, can add hot water straight in.

* 7 new cat bowls from cat cupboard in Suzie storage

* Spoon

* 1 small bowl with hot water

INSIDE CAT CAGE (IN THIS ORDER PLEASE):

* Put up food bowls, toys, cardboard boxes (check there’s no pee/poo/vomit in them – if there is tell a dog carer/vet and throw away the cardboard boxes), anything that can be picked off the ground

* Empty litter boxes to litter bin/bucket. Make sure no pieces of old litter left in boxes (this is where the gloves come in handy)

* WIPE THE WHOLE LITTER BOX WITH WET WIPES. NO DRIED POO SHOULD BE LEFT UNCLEANED.

* Fill litter boxes with new litter – up to marked line in the big one and about the same amount in the black one

* If there’s any poo on the floor, can clean it with wet wipes from red zone. Same for vomit or any rodent remains

* Once a week please brush the climber and other furniture there. Brush is in box where shoe covers are.

Empty water bowls and trays into litter bin/bucket.

* Wipe the trays as they get filled with litter, dust etc.

* Put the clean water bowls and fill them with new water.

* Put the old ones in red floor area to take them out and get washed.

* Mop the floor. Squeeze out as much water as possible from the mop before mopping. Otherwise the floor will be too wet. The floor does not dry easily in cold weather in particular.

* Put everything picked from ground (except the food bowls) back down

* Feed cats with 1 full measuring cup of dry cat food split between the 7 bowls, put the bowls back in

the 4/3 arrangement like in the morning

AFTER LEAVING CAT CAGE:

* Put leftover food in fridge, if any

* Throw away finished cans, any uneaten food from yesterdays bowls

* Wash yesterdays bowls and put them back in cat cupboard in Suzie storage

* Wash spoon and bowl used for hot water
